Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Buterin Thanks Shiba Inu (SHIB) Community For Making Fellowships Possible

The co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain project has heaped praise on the SHIB token for the launch of the AI Existential Safety Fellowship.

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum (ETH), has expressed gratitude to the Shiba Inu community and the project’s native token, SHIB, for making the fellowship of Artificial Intelligence Existential Safety a possibility.

The Ethereum co-founder made a comment in response to a tweet from Max Tegmark,

“Please welcome our first class of @VitalikButerin. Fellows in AI Existential Safety, and consider collaborating with them to ensure that AI become the best rather than worst thing to happen to humanity!”

Responding to the tweet, Buterin noted that the fellowship would not have been possible without members of the Shiba Inu community as well as the SHIB token.

“Big thanks to the Shiba Inu community, whose cryptocurrency made these fellowships possible,” Buterin said.

Big thanks to the Shiba Inu community, whose cryptocurrency made these fellowships possible!

The Vitalik Buterin PhD Fellowship in AI Existential Safety is for students starting PhD programs in 2022 who plan to work on AI existential safety research or for existing PhD students who would not otherwise have funding to work on AI existential safety research.

It will fund students for 5 years of their PhD, with extension funding possible. At universities in the US, UK, or Canada, annual funding will cover tuition, fees, and the stipend of the student’s PhD program up to $40,000, as well as a fund of $10,000 that can be used for research-related expenses such as travel and computing. At universities not in the US, UK or Canada, the stipend amount will be adjusted to match local conditions
