Cardano’s Remarkable Year: Highlights from the Foundation’s First Annual Report
The Cardano Foundation’s first Annual Report is a testament to the robust growth and development of the Cardano ecosystem in 2022.
The Cardano Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to support and promote using the Cardano blockchain ecosystem. Their focus is on driving the adoption of the Cardano platform, shaping regulations and industry standards, building partnerships with businesses and governments, and cultivating the Cardano community.
The Foundation recently released its first Annual Report on April 18, 2023, highlighting the achievements of various teams throughout 2022. The report showcases the Foundation’s work in three main areas: operational resilience, education, and adoption. The CEO of the Cardano Foundation, Frederik Gregaard, expressed his happiness about the report and how it shows progress towards their long-term mission of providing the world with dependable, open, and decentralized infrastructures.
According to the 26-page report, the Foundation’s achievements showcase its teams’ dedication and hard work. To support the growing community, the Foundation has updated its delegation strategy, rewarding stake pool operators (SPOs) who consistently develop essential tools for building on Cardano.
Gregaard acknowledges these achievements, saying, “Each and every one of these steps moves us closer to our long-term mission: contribute to providing the world with open and decentralized infrastructures that it can depend on.”
Additionally, the Foundation claims to have made strides in refining the Cardano Improvement Proposals (CIPs) process, aligning it with best open-source practices. The first Annual State of the Cardano Developer Ecosystem survey was launched to understand the current landscape better and help direct efforts more effectively.
The Cardano Foundation reports significant growth in its workforce, expanding from under 40 employees at the beginning of 2022 to almost 80 by December. This growth has apparently played a critical role in the organization’s ability to achieve its goals throughout the year.
Some notable accomplishments in 2022, as mentioned by the report, including providing technical assistance for the Vasil hard fork, establishing the groundwork for the nationwide use of blockchain in the Georgian wine supply chain, and contributing to the versatility of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). These achievements demonstrate the diversity of transactions and solutions across the Cardano network, ensuring its vitality and durability, as claimed by the organization.
The Alpha Program of the blockchain course has gone live, aiming to provide everyone with free, high-quality blockchain education. However, it remains to be seen how these initiatives will unfold and their impact on the broader blockchain and cryptocurrency landscape.
The Cardano Foundation also played a significant role in the Cardano Summit 2022, organizing it in a way that empowered the community and stirred curiosity. The event brought together enthusiasts and industry experts from around the globe, covering various topics and providing both information and insights. The success of the summit has prompted preparations for the Cardano Summit 2023.
As part of their educational initiatives, the Foundation collaborated with universities and participated in high-level policy discussions with representatives from Brussels, Singapore, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States and members of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) and the World Bank. These engagements aim to advance a deeper and more accurate understanding of blockchain technology.
Fostering adoption through targeted partnerships is another significant focus for the Cardano Foundation. In 2022, the organization worked with Switzerland for UNHCR, the Georgia National Wine Agency, veritree, and the University of Zurich. According to the Foundation, these partnerships have contributed to the development and launch of tools such as Kupo v2 and Ogmios, which aim to facilitate adoption and help Cardano scale.
The Cardano Foundation’s efforts in operational resilience, education, and adoption are said to have been critical in providing technical assistance for updating and maintaining the robustness and reliability of the Cardano infrastructure. The release of the decentralized application backend (DAB) solution and the expansion of the Developer Portal were among the highlights of 2022.
That’s brilliant @Cardano_CF. With so many questions in regards to what the CF are doing, this really will help with the communication and transparency of the Foundation. ? https://t.co/qEvNlErgel
