Brave launches automatic NFT pinning
As per recent reports, Brave has launched automatic NFT pinning, allowing users to safely store the metadata of NFTs in Brave’s Wallet. The objective is to provide security to the data and easy access to FVM on top of Filecoin EVM.
The original launch dates back to May 02, 2023, when the update actually came to light, citing that the goal is to support the adoption and development of a decentralized web across the globe. Brave registered over 57 million users in the early days of May 2023. There is a healthy chance that the number of users has risen, and a larger section can access the mechanism of automatic NFT pinning.
To clarify, pinning here refers to informing IPFS (Interplanetary File System) about indefinitely storing the metadata in a specific location. The file remains available at the convenience of the user. The whole point is to spread even the risk of losing data by storing them at multiple locations. Therefore, improving the resiliency for the long term.
Brian Bondy, the Co-Founder & Chief Technological Officer at Brave, highlighted in the previous announcement that the development lets a user access the feature with just a few clicks to ensure that the information is available continuously within its framework.
Users do not need to have any knowledge about the mechanism. No matter the background, the feature comes in handy for everyone to let them save the metadata and mitigate the risk of losing it forever. One has to enable IPFS to proceed with the process. Not all NFTs may be eligible to be pinned automatically.
It is important to note that NFTs do not gain any additional layer of security, but the data is kept across networks through a distributed set of copies. Pinning can be accessed for Ethereum-based ERC-721 tokens. There are plans in the pipeline to expand the reach by encompassing more chains and tokenization standards in the days to come.
Making this interesting is the fact that automatic NFT pinning can also be performed by wallet addresses that are not related to Brave. Other addresses outside Brave’s own portfolio can be linked by manually mentioning token details. Brave Wallet will then display and back up the NFT.
Brave announcing automatic NFT pinning complements its efforts to simplify access to FVM, short for Filecoin Virtual Machine, on top of Filecoin EVM.
Brave earlier announced partnering with Transak for the purpose of expanding crypto purchases all over the world by integrating multiple payment methods and sporting 50 new assets. This particular update goes back to the concluding days of May 2023, informing the community that the integration is across Polygon, BNB Chain, Ethereum, and Arbitrum, along with Optimism.
This gives users more options to buy and deposit tokens as per their preference. Brian expressed their excitement with the development, saying that it gives users more options to buy cryptocurrencies with several payment methods. The automatic NFT pinning is now available for users of Brave on desktop versions, offering a unique experience on the web.
