Cardano Marches On: IOG Fuels Steady Growth with Significant Upgrades

Input Output Global (IOG) advances Cardano’s tech with substantial enhancements, reflecting the platform’s consistent progress.

In the latest developments from the world of Cardano, IOG, the driving force behind Cardano’s R&D, has announced significant improvements to the platform in its latest weekly development report.

In the core technology arena, IOG’s networking team worked on optimizing the process of switching between root and ledger peers. They enhanced the handshake protocol, automated the process of releasing new packages to CHaP, and improved other vital areas. Furthermore, they collaborated with the research and networking teams to refine the Ouroboros Genesis design.

The report mentions progress on the UTXO-HD prototype, including an enhanced DB locking mechanism and integration of a new library that implements cancellative monoids. This integration simplified the code while providing a slight performance gain.

In terms of wallet services, the Daedalus team is set to launch a new release incorporating a proxy server that provides Ada conversion rates from the CoinGecko API. There’s been notable progress in Lace’s Trezor integration and the desktop version development. Also, the Adrestia team has been busy with the multi-signature wallet delegation functionality.

Notably, in the realm of smart contracts, the Plutus tools team focused on bug resolution and addressing a regression in sync time. An exciting development from the Plutus core team is the implementation of an optimization pass known as Float Delay for Untyped Plutus Core, leading to significant improvements in program sizes and costs.

As Cardano scales, the Hydra team released the first mainnet-compatible Hydra node version, among other milestones. The Mithril team has been equally productive, notably finalizing the framework to sign various data types in the aggregator and signer nodes.

In governance, Cardano’s Voltaire project is hosting in-person workshops in over 20 locations globally. These workshops, happening from May to July, aim to discuss the latest developments in Cardano’s on-chain governance as proposed in CIP-1694.

Meanwhile, the Catalyst team had its 126th town hall meeting, with Ada Quest and Decentralized Music Platform (DEMU) unveiling their latest completed projects.

In the education sector, plans are in place for the next in-person Haskell course, with preparations underway for the Cardano Days workshops scheduled for the summer.

Per the report, Cardano has successfully launched 127 projects, generated more than 8.28 million native tokens, and executed 8,277 Plutus scripts. Further testament to Cardano’s dynamism is the striking figure of 1,242 projects currently being actively developed on its platform. Moreover, the network has demonstrated its power and reliability, having processed 66.7 million transactions. This remarkable progress underscores Cardano’s vigorous growth and its potential to deliver game-changing developments in the field of cryptocurrency.
