Yuga Labs warn users about Mailchimp data breach
Yuga Labs informed the community on Jan. 19 that its account with email service provider Mailchimp was compromised in a recent data breach.
An “unauthorized actor” may have gained access to data in the Yuga Labs account. However, there are no indications that any of the account’s data was exported, according to Yuga Labs.
The NFT company said that the compromised account had information from email campaigns that involved a “limited number of people.” The firm emphasized that the Mailchimp account was strictly used for email communications — not NFT mints.
The Bored Ape NFT developer added that it was making this statement as a precautionary measure to forewarn its users — affected users would be contacted via a different email address.
“As a reminder, there will be no surprise mints and we will never DM you requesting sensitive information.”
Yuga Labs urged its community always to verify every announcement through official sources.
Mailchimp identified a security breach on Jan. 11 that affected 133 users’ accounts. The firm said it informed all affected accounts on Jan. 12.
