Hong Kong’s PolyU Introduces First Metaverse Postgraduate Program

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has launched a postgraduate program in metaverse technology, becoming the first university in the nation to offer this type of curriculum. As higher education institutions race to remain on top of emerging trends, one of which is the Web3, PolyU has become the first. According to PolyU’s website, the one-year Master of Science in Metaverse Technology degree offered by the computer department of the engineering faculty would begin in September.

The Objective Of PolyU

By teaching students the essence of metaverses and the core technologies needed for their development, the university aims to equip its students with the skills they need to work for start-ups and significant players in the metaverse industry. The notion of the metaverse, which predicts an interactive digital environment in which individuals can communicate via digital representations of themselves, has become one of the most popular in the IT sector in recent years. However, attempts to further the illusive idea have occasionally been mocked.

University To Establish Web3 Carnival

The Web3 Carnival, a series of online panel discussions and events concentrating on the industry, was introduced by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) last month. It will run through November. In his inaugural statement at the Web3 Carnival, Wang Yang, vice-president for Institutional Advancement at HKUST and creator of the university’s CryptoFintech Lab, stated that in the Web3 age, Hong Kong may be a gateway linking mainland China’s digital economy with the rest of the world.
